Meet the Team

Mere Agency was founded in 2011 by Matt Heerema with the goal of helping the church use the web to impact the world with the gospel. Matt has put together a core team of skilled artisans to create beautiful, effective, custom web presences for a wide range of organizations. Mere is a small but mighty agency, with years of experience serving missions, churches, and faith-based organizations.

Mere’s team members have worked on projects of all shapes and sizes, from internationally read, industry leading sites such as, with millions of readers a day, to excellent international ministries such as Desiring God Ministries, The Gospel Coalition, The Southern Baptist Convention, Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC), Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Reformed Theological Seminary, The White Horse Inn, and the Banner of Truth, to name just a few, and we are most pleased to serve hundreds of local churches and ministries.

Matt Heerema / Founder / Chief Strategist

Matt got his start in web development over 25 years ago, playing nearly every role on a web team over the course of time. He has worked on in-house teams for many high-profile organizations such as Iowa State University, AOL, and Desiring God Ministries. Through these avenues Matt has gained broad field expertise in the areas of digital strategy, user experience, information architecture, usability, front-end development, and project management. Matt’s hobbies include birdwatching, martial arts, games with friends, painting, football (Go Cyclones and Niners!) and reading (theology, leadership/business/tech, sci-fi, and fantasy). Most importantly, Matt is a husband and father of 4 beautiful girls. Matt serves as the pastor for teaching and strategic vision at his local church (Stonebrook Community Church in Ames, Iowa).

Andrew Joyce / MereChurch / Client Success / Design

Andrew has been making websites for over a decade, and now coordinates our agency’s design and sales. He started in freelance web design, but has worked for One Town Creative in Minneapolis, and as senior developer at Midwestern Seminary. He is a hybrid designer and developer who uses his insights across two fields to build beautiful, functional websites. As a writer, Andrew tells stories through the medium of the web, and is passionate about showcasing excellent content on the web. He lives in Kansas City with his wife and family, where they are involved in urban ministry, foster care, and weekly board game nights.

Vinnie Dauer / Lead Developer

Vinnie’s passion for the intersection of gospel-centered ministry and web development began in 1996, and he’s been creating church and ministry websites ever since. A pastor since 2003, Vinnie took on web development full-time in 2016 as a church planter-to-be. Now pastor of Trinity Church in northern Ohio, Vinnie enjoys helping churches and ministries establish a web presence that furthers their mission. He and his wife Bridget have 6 kids, a dog, a cat, and innumerable board games.

Zach Campbell / Junior Web developer

Zach is the intern and a Computer Science student at Iowa State University. He likes trains, space, and writing concise, easily maintainable code. He is grateful that he does not have to deliver coffee to the team in three states and two countries, and is excited to learn more about web development.
